Activision reveals Call of Duty Black Ops 7 launch details
10 June 2025
As most of the international esports fans will know, and the Call of Duty fans especially, the month of June this year is all about the CDL (Call of Duty League) Championship. It is the final event of the Black Ops 6 competitive season and counts as the official World Championship for the game as well. The tournament will take place from June 26 to June 29 at the Kitchener Memorial Auditorium in Kitchener, in the Canadian province of Ontario.
The CDL Championship is not the only major Call of Duty event to take place this month, though. Activision, the studio behind the title, also planned an Xbox Games Showcase for the first weekend of June and it ended up being a big one for Call of Duty fans. That’s because Activision used the opportunity to reveal the next title in the hugely popular Call of Duty franchise, Call of Duty Black Ops 7, including launch date for later this year!
Official trailer for Black Ops 7
Despite the big Call of Duty news, Activision did not actually mention an exact release date for Black Ops 7 yet. What they did unveil though, is the first official trailer for the game, which provides plenty of information and also contains a few hints as to what is (possibly) to come. Besides that, during the previously mentioned Xbox Games Showcase, it was also mentioned that there will be a bigger Black Ops 7 reveal coming later this summer.

“Our official teaser sets the tone for players to embrace the madness that’s incoming with Black Ops 7’s story”, says Tyler Bahl, Head of Activision Publishing Marketing, “[…] “Today is only the beginning with this first teaser. The full reveal of Black Ops 7 is coming later this summer, so the community should be on the lookout for teases, clues and the surprises that the Black Ops series is known for. It’s an exciting time as we prepare for a new Call of Duty reveal, and the next great experience to come”.
Set in 2035
As some players and fans had predicted, Black Ops 7 is taking place after the events from Black Ops 6 (and Black Ops 2, in fact). As a player, you are sent to the year 2035, where it seems Raúl Menéndez will once again be your nemesis. But wasn’t he killed by David Mason many years (and instalments) ago?
“In Call of Duty: Black Ops 7, Treyarch and Raven Software are bringing players the most mind-bending Black Ops ever”, writes Activision on the official Call of Duty website, “Developed as the next evolution of Black Ops, this is the first-ever consecutive release within the series, set more than 40 years after the events of Black Ops 6. The year is 2035 and the world is on the brink of chaos, ravaged by violent conflict and psychological warfare following the events of Black Ops 2 and Black Ops 6. Wielding cutting-edge technology, David Mason and his team must fight back against a manipulative enemy who weaponizes fear above all else.”
