BLAST signs landmark partnership with Singapore Tourism Board

19 August 2025

You can expect Singapore to appear considerably more in the international esports news towards the end of this year and all throughout next year. BLAST, the famous organizer and producer of esports competitions and events all over the world, has just announced a multi-year partnership with the Singapore Tourism Board. As part of the deal, the Danish company will be hosting four separate international esports events in the southeast Asian country, starting after Blast Slam IV for Dota 2 in November of this year.

International esports ambitions

In the past few years, Singapore has paid more and more attention to international esports as the country has the ambition to become a southeast Asian esports hub. They are not only looking at esports as entertainment, but also as a future-proof way of job creation and a way to positively impact their economy. According to the local experts, the Singaporean government, through the Singapore Tourism Board, expects to generate tens of millions in economic impact by signing their recent deal with BLAST.

The partnership with the renowned esports organizer is not the country’s first foray into international esports, either. Last year, for example, they hosted the BLAST Premier 2024 World Final (Counter-Strike) and in April of this year, the Singapore Mobile Legends: Bang Bang (MLBB) league launched its own talent search program. It has not been revealed yet which esports events are expected to be hosted by BLAST as part of their recent deal with the Singapore Tourism Board.

"Following the success of last year's BLAST Premier World Final, we are delighted to forge this new multi-year partnership with BLAST that anchors a regular pipeline of esports events in Singapore and strengthens our position as Asia's leading esports and entertainment hub”, says Jean Ng, Assistant Chief Executive of Experience Development Group at the Singapore Tourism Board, “Large-scale international esports events create significant opportunities for our tourism ecosystem, benefiting local businesses and growing the local events and esports industries.”

BLAST venture into southeast Asia

BLAST has been known for years as one of the premier esports event and tournament organizers in the world, but their activities in (southeast) Asia have been limited until now. With Singapore, they are adding a promising and ambitious southeast Asian player to their calendar, which already boasts hugely appealing names like Hong Kong, London and Rio de Janeiro.

"BLAST has major global ambitions as a leader in esports and competitive entertainment and we are delighted to expand our partnership with Singapore”, says Leo Matlock, Chief Business Officer at BLAST, “Singapore delivered one of the most passionate and engaged esports crowds we've ever seen during last year's BLAST Premier World Final Singapore 2024, was BLAST's first event in South East Asia and thousands of passionate fans travelled from all over Asia and beyond. We are incredibly excited to be making a long-term commitment to the region through this new partnership with the Singapore Tourism Board. Together, we'll bring four spectacular esports arena events to the Lion City, after this year's Dota Slam.”
