Epic Sports Events and WePlay! Esports launches Omega League

27 July 2020

Leading European teams Epic Sports Events and WePlay! Esports teamed up to launch the Omega League, an online tournament on DotA 2 with $600,000 prize pool, which includes multiple competitive regions and divisions, with English broadcast handled by WePlay! Esports and the RuHub in charge of its Russian counterpart.

The tournament, which runs from July 20 until September 6, will see the teams bring in the best level of competition possible, alongside unique content during this special summer due to the global pandemic. “Omega League is a unique product. We are extremely thankful to the teams and our partners at WePlay! for working together on the vision of what an online event can and should be. We hope that this event will set the benchmark in the level of production and provide the fans many hours of content”, said Mark Averbukh, representative of Epic Esports Events.

One league, two regions

The Omega League is divided into two regions: Europe including CIS and Americas (North America and South America). In Europe, 12 teams will compete in the group stage of Immortal Division ($500,000) divided in two groups of six. The Americas will see ten teams participate in the group stage of Divine Division ($31,500), divided in two groups of five. Eight teams will also compete in the Ancient Division ($8,500), divided in two groups of four.
