Attention sim racing fans, the Ferrari Esports Series is back!

10 April 2023

Whenever news comes out of Maranello, the small Italian town in Emilia-Romagna that is known worldwide as the home of Ferrari and its Formula 1 team Scuderia Ferrari, racers and racing fans from all over the world pay attention. It was no different earlier this month, when the legendary sportscar maker announced the return of the Ferrari Esports Series, starting with a spectacular Launch show that took place on Thursdag, April 6th, 2023. Fans of esports and sim racing in particular are now looking forward to the start of the Qualifiers over the coming summer.

Fourth edition for Ferrari Esports Series

With the Launch show behind us, the fourth consecutive season of the Ferrari Esports Series is now officially on the way. Over the coming six months, some of the best sim racers in the world will be competing to reach the coveted Grand Final on October 12th. There will be two categories, Assetto Corsa and Assetto Corsa Competizione, and the stakes in either are very high. That’s because, besides the glory of the Ferrari Esports Series 2023 title, the winner will also get a chance to secure a place on the official Scuderia Ferrari Esports team.
"The Ferrari Esports Series is not like any other sim racing competition,” said Jonathan Riley, who won the Ferrari Esports Series in 2022, “It’s six intense months of high-speed racing against the world’s best amateur sim racers, all with one common goal in mind. It’s a chance to sit among the best sim drivers and compete for the greatest motorsport brand in the world”.

What’s new in 2023?

While much of the successful Ferrari Esports Series concept has been left unchanged, the fourth edition of the competition does feature a few very interesting adjustments and additions. This year, for example, is the first year that the Series will be open to the Asia-Pacific region, besides the already included European and North American regions. Broadcasts of all the action though, can be viewed via Twitch, Youtube and Facebook from anywhere in the world.
Besides the addition of a new region, Ferrari has also added new content concepts this season. Besides the Launch show we mentioned earlier, there will also be two exclusive content series made available. The first is Ferrari 101, five episodes of advice and tips for aspiring sim racers, and the second is Off The Grid, a three-part documentary series that follows Jonathan Riley last season as he went on to win the Ferrari Esports Series 2022.

Schedule

The Launch show on April 6th kicked off the Ferrari Esports Series 2023 season, but it’s a while still before the racing really gets underway.
