FlyQuest win first and only LoL Championship of the Americas (LTA)

29 September 2025

Many eyes in the League of Legends community were on Latin America these past few weeks, as the second half of September brought us a brand-new tournament: the League of Legends Championship of the Americas (LTA). After two weeks of action, it was United States-based FlyQuest who won the event’s first edition and, as it turns out now, its only edition as well. Organizer Riot Games announced that the new format for what was supposed to be one of the premier League of Legends in the Americas will be reverted to the original approach, which consisted of two tournaments: the League Championship Series (LCS) and the Campeonato Brasileiro de League of Legends (CBLOL).

2025 LoL Championship of the Americas

League of Legends is one of the biggest international esports in the world and as we wrote before, it was the first-ever edition of the Championship of the Americas that was played over the past two weeks. The tournament was announced earlier this year as the new, single competitive structure for League of Legends in the Americas (North America, Central America and South America). To be precise, it merged the League Championship Series (LCS), the top level of professional LoL in the United States, Canada and northern Latin America, and the Campeonato Brasileiro de League of Legends (CBLOL), the top level of professional LoL competition in Brazil.

FlyQuest win LTA 2025

The creation of the new League of Legends Championship of the Americas was based on the idea of bringing together the best players from the entire region. By doing so, Riot Games was hoping to deliver more high stakes matches and raise the overall level of play in the Americas. A total of six teams qualified for the LTA 2025: two from the United States (FlyQuest, 100 Thieves), one from Canada (Shopify Rebellion) and three from Brazil (Keyd Stars, RED Canids, paiN gaming).

FlyQuest earned a starting spot in the upper bracket after winning the LTA North Split 2 Playoffs, which put them opposite Keyd Stars. The American organization swept past the Brazilians in a 3-0 victory, immediately securing a spot in the Grand Final. Keyd Stars dropped to the lower bracket, where 100 Thieves was waiting. The former dominated most of the encounter and beat the latter 3-1 to earn a rematch against FlyQuest.

What followed was an entertaining final clash in which the Americans never really looked like they were in trouble. They took the first two matches in under half an hour each, then lost one and then eventually brought it home with a third and final win. FlyQuest earned $ 80.000 (of the total $ 205.000 prize pool), while runners-up Keyd Stars took home $ 50.000. Both teams also qualified for Worlds 2025, the official annual League of Legends World Championship, as did LTA 2025 number three 100 Thieves.

First and last LTA

It turns out that FlyQuest is the first official LTA champion and the last as well. After a host of complaints from players in regard to the merging of the LCS and the CBLOL, Riot Games announced the return of both competitions, which meant the end of the LTA. Much of the criticism was aimed at the new tournament’s overly complex format, while many players and fans voiced a preference for their traditional regional leagues. As a result, this year’s League of Legends Championship of the Americas is its first and only edition. In 2026, the League Championship Series and the Campeonato Brasileiro de League of Legends will return to the international esports calendar.
