It does not happen every day that a new esports scene springs into life, but it did happen earlier this year. In May, Marvel Rivals Ignite: 2025 was organized, the first international esports circuit for the rapidly growing game by NetEase and Marvel Games. Marvel Rivals Esports, the game’s official X account, recently announced the new upcoming season, together with the message that changes will be coming in 2026. Many details have not been revealed yet, but let’s take a look at what we do know already about Marvel Rivals Ignite: 2026.

Marvel Rivals Ignite in 2026

To be honest with you, “many details have not been revealed yet” is a bit of an understatement, because NetEase have really been quite stingy with their reveal. More than anything, the announcement serves as a much-needed assurance of the future of Marvel Rivals esports, after months of speculation from the community. Marvel Rivals Ignite: 2025 was the first international esports circuit in the history of the game, after all, and its growing player and fanbase was not sure if there would be a second season.

“Brace yourselves for the exciting launch of Marvel Rivals Ignite 2026”, was posted on the official Marvel Rivals X account, “The future of Marvel Rivals Esports 2026. Experience a competition format that is more professional, more mature, more exciting! Please stay tuned for our announcement. More information will be released soon.”

No franchised leagues

One thing we do know already, is that licensing one or more franchised Marvel Rivals Ignite leagues is not among the options. NetEase have already stated that they are not considering such a drastic change, like Call of Duty and League of Legends did in the past. How Marvel Rivals Ignite will differ remains to be seen, though. NetEase already started the preparations for the 2026 season at the end of the 2025 season, and the fruits of those preparations should become apparent soon.

One of the widely expected changes anticipated by players and fans alike is a re-designing of the new international esports’ incentives ecosystem. A few esports organizations that competed in Marvel Rivals Ignite: 2025 already hinting at a better and more expansive incentives package for the circuit if NetEase wants them to commit to the new title long term. The eventual changes implemented by the developer will play an important role in swaying teams to return to the competition in 2026.

Virtus.pro takes first circuit

The Grand Finals of the 2025 season of Marvel Rivals Ignite was played offline at Dreamhack Atlanta, from 27 October 2025 to 2 November 2025. It was played at the impressive Georgia World Congress Center with a prize pool of no less than $ 1 million, and it was Russian esports organization Virtus.pro who ended up claiming the first Marvel Rivals Ignite trophy ever. On top of that, they took home $ 320.000 in prize money, while runners-up Natus Vincere from Ukraine won $ 160.000 and American esports organization FlyQuest finished in third place for $ 120.000.
