Miami-based NTMR win first-ever The Finals Grand Major
2 December 2025
Have you heard of The Finals already? The new first-person shooter inspired by movies like Gladiator and The Hunger Games? It was launched back in December of last year by Swedish developer Embark Studios and has grown into a success in a bit less than a year time. And recently, about eleven months after the games initial launch, The Finals made its first foray into the world of international esports with its very first international esports event, the The Finals Grand Major 2025. The first-ever official The Finals world championship was played offline in Stockholm (Sweden) on November 28th and November 29th, 2025, and won by American esports organization NTMR.
The Finals Grand Major 2025
As mentioned earlier, The Finals Grand Major 2025 was the first official The Finals tournament organized by Embark Studios. It was held at the Stockholmsmässan exhibition center during DreamHack Stockholm and saw sixteen (16) of the best teams in the world compete for a share of the $ 100.000 prize pool. Participants included high-profile names such as Gen.G Esports, Fnatic and ENVY, who were formerly known as Team Envy.
Or as Embark Studios explain it themselves: “The season ends with a bang: 16 global teams battle for $100k prize pool, a roaring crowd, and the right to raise the trophy. The time has come to find out… CAN YOU REACH THE FINALS?”
2 days of The Finals action
The Finals contains varies game modes and two of those, Cashout and Final Round, were tested in the first two phases of the Grand Major 2025. The eight best teams to come out of those phases qualified for the second day, on which a Hybrid Elimination format was followed. The eventual Grand Final took place between the best four teams of the entire The Finals Grand Major 2025: Fnatic from the United Kingdom, NTMR from the United States, their countrymen from Spacestation Gaming, and Europe-based Team Secret.
NTMR dominant in finals
Eventual champions NTMR almost missed out on the final stage after being relegated to the Elimination Zone in the previous stage. They ultimately triumphed over North American organization TSM 2-0 to make it to the finals, where they ended up dominating. Neither Fnatic nor Spacestation Gaming or Team Secret could keep the Americans from the first-ever The Finals world championship title. They immediately secured four points by winning against Fnatic and Spacestation in the first two games and then got the fifth and final point they needed in Game 4 versus Team Secret. This earned NTMR the 2025 The Finals world championship and $ 37.500 in prize money.
“The Grand Major 2025 would not have been possible without you, so we want to take some extra time to say thank you”, Embark Studios wrote on their own X account after the event, “Thank you to all the Contestants, on stage, in the audience or online, everyone that visited us at Dreamhack, and to everyone that helped make this event happen. See you at The Grand Major 2026! From Embark, with Love.”
