New format for Rocket League Championship Series 2025

New format for Rocket League Championship Series 2025

17 September 2024

Just a few days after the conclusion of the 2024 Rocket League Championship Series (RLCS), Psyonix has already revealed some very interesting news for next year’s edition. Besides the schedule for the RLCS 2025, the game’s developer has also announced a new format for the next season of the hugely popular esports title. The 2025 Rocket League Championship Series will feature two Major events and a total prize pool of $ 5 million, plus the addition of a new one-versus-one format.

Return in January 2025

As happened before, Psyonix chose the end of one season to announce details in regard to the next season. The RLCS 2024, which took place at the Dickies Arena in Fort Worth (Texas, United States) came to an end on September 15th and right after, the developer announced that Rocket League will return for competitive play in January 2025. The RLCS 2025 Spring Split kicks off on April 5th though, at the iconic Madison Square Garden in New York City, followed by the start of the RLCS 2025 Summer Split on July 19th.
The Rocket League Championship Series 2025 World Championship, the highlight of the season, will then take place on November 15th, 2025. The best teams from around the world will come together at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn (New York, United States) to decide who can call themselves world champions for at least one whole season. The eyes of the Rocket League community and the international esports world will once again be on the United States towards the end of next year.

Introduction of 1v1 format

Possibly even more exciting than the announcement of the dates is the announcement of a new format for the new Rocket League Championship Series. For the first time, there will be a one-versus-one (1v1) format that will go live alongside the traditional three-versus-three (3v3) season. The new format will be introduced in all regions (EU, North America, MENA and SAM) and scheduling will take place in such a way that players can compete in both the new format and the traditional 3v3 format, if they wish to do so.

Total prize pool increased

On top of the new format, the total prize pool for the upcoming Rocket League season has also been increased, compared to the 2024 season. Where during the past season there was $ 4,3 million in prize money on offer, that number has been increased to $ 5 million for the 2025 season. In combination with the interesting new 1v1 format, this is sure to attract even more players and teams.

Last season, the 2024 RLCS World Championship alone offered a prize pool of $ 1.165.500, of which $ 300.000 went to Swiss winners Team BDS. Runners-up G2 Stride from Germany took home $ 150.000, while number three Karmine Corp from France won $ 99.000 in prize money. How much of the increased prize pool for the 2025 Rocket League season will be dedicated to the World Championship is not clear yet.
