Earlier this month, Dutch and international esports organization Team Liquid announced a new, high-profile partnership with UNICEF, and now they have introduced the first tangible result of that collab. The organization has unveiled that they will have a custom-made in-game kit available in EA Sports FC 26, which will feature the name and logo of UNICEF as well. The goal of the kit is to raise awareness of the humanitarian aid organisation’s commitment to education and children’s human rights.

Launch in December

The newest instalment of the EA Sports FC franchise was launched back in September, but the Team Liquid x UNICEF kit was not available in-game yet at the time. The collaboration was only announced recently and the in-game kit is set to be officially launched on Wednesday, December 3rd. In the past, great football clubs like FC Barcelona, Manchester United and Olympiakos already played with UNICEF on the front of their shirts, and Team Liquid is in a way following in their footsteps. Team Liquid will also become the first esports organization to have its own kit in an instalment of EA Sports FC.

“Many great football clubs have dedicated their kits in support of UNICEF, and it’s an honor to join their ranks in a way that’s authentic to esports and gaming”, said Victor Goossens, founder and co-CEO of Team Liquid, “Our EA FC Roster will also be wearing the digital kit on the virtual pitch, and we’re anticipating another trophy-laden season.”

UNICEF’s debut in international esports

The feature of UNICEF’s name and logo on the in-game kit also represents a milestone for the humanitarian aid organization. The initiative represents the first appearance of UNICEF branding on a competitive esports kit within the EA SPORTS FC series. Players of the game will be able to unlock the Team Liquid kit for free in Ultimate team mode, by completing an in-game objective. Logically, Team Liquid’s own competitive EA FC roster will also use the new kit during official matches. At the moment of writing, we are not sure if the Team Liquid in-game kit will be available as real-life shorts at various offline and online sales points as well.

Team Liquid x UNICEF

As we wrote before, the new EA Sports FC 26 in-game kit is one of the results of the new partnership between Team Liquid and UNICEF. The organization sees the Netherlands-based team as a perfect partner, as gaming and esports have the ability to provide children with a platform to express themselves. You can therefore expect many more initiatives and activations over the coming months.

“As a teenager, gaming taught me about new cultures, helped me develop a work ethic and gave me a goal to strive towards,” said Victor Goossens after the announcement of Team Liquid’s partnership with UNICEF, “Bringing these opportunities to young people is part of our mission, and we are honored to represent UNICEF and work with them to support children worldwide in reaching their full potential.”
