Team Vitality clinch IEM Dallas 2025 as well
27 May 2025
A few weeks ago, we wrote an article for our UK sister site about William “mezii” Merriman. As in-game leader and rifler for Team Vitality he had just won the Intel Extreme Masters (IEM) Melbourne 2025, which merited a mention. While most of the focus of the article was on “mezii”, we also mentioned the fact that Team Vitality, with their triumph in Melbourne, had become only the fifth team in Counter-Strike history to complete an ESL Grand Slam. That means winning three ESL Pro Tour Masters tournaments and one Championship tournament (Katowice, Cologne or ESL-operated CS Majors) inside a span of ten consecutive events. And if that wasn’t enough, the French esports giants recently also claimed the trophy at IEM Dallas 2025 to further cement their name as one of the powerhouses in international esports.
IEM Dallas 2025
The Intel Extreme Masters Dallas 2025 took place from Monday, May 19th, to Sunday, May 25th, at the Kay Bailey Hutchison Convention Center in Dallas, Texas (United States). As usual, sixteen of the best Counter-Strike teams from around the world gathered to compete for as large a share as possible from the $ 300.000 prize pool. Eventual champions Team Vitality were placed in Group A, together with big names such as Mongolian esports organization The Mongolz and German organization G2 Esports. The other group in the Group Stage of IEM Dallas 2025 contained, among others, Netherlands-based organization Team Liquid, American organization FaZe Clan and the Norwegians from HEROIC.
Thanks to recent results, Team Vitality started off as the big favorites and it showed during the Group Stage. They beat Brazilian side Legacy 2-0 before dispatching of German organization GamerLegion with an identical score. Their first and only lost map came in the Upper Bracket Final against The MongolZ, which they won 2-1 to qualify for the Playoff Stage.
Dominant throughout playoffs
As a result of their first place in Group A, Team Vitality entered the Playoff Stages in the Semifinals, where they had to face Team Falcons from Saudi Arabia. It looked tight for a while, but the French side proved superior once again and earned their progress to the Grand Final. There, German organization MOUZ was waiting, but where people expected a tense finish to IEM Dallas 2025, it actually became quite a one-sided affair. They took Dust II after a great comeback to make it 1-0 and then finished it with a 13-9 on Mirage and a 13-8 on Inferno. Their triumph in Dallas earned them $ 125.000 in prize money, while runner-up MOUZ took home $ 50.000. Number three Team Falcons and number four The MongolZ earned $ 25.000 each.
“I’m extremely proud of our CS team for securing yet another major title with this IEM Dallas victory”, said Fabien Devide, President of Team Vitality, after his organization’s victory in Dallas, “Team Vitality continues to showcase the strength and excellence of French esports organizations on the global stage, and we have no intention of slowing down anytime soon.”
