US Esports Federation launches International Esports Exchange
14 May 2024
One of the best and most fascinating aspects of international esports is the possibility for players to compete with players from all over the world, and for fans to follow esports action from all over the globe. That’s why the United States Esports Federation (USEF), in collaboration with American esports organization Ghost Gaming, has launched the brand-new International Esports Exchange. The idea behind this Exchange is to provide North American players with the opportunity to visit other countries and compete locally against international rivals.
Inauguration with Tekken 8 event
One of the best ways for players to improve their skills is to compete with players who are not only good, but who also play in a different way, and that goes for all titles. It’s a crucial aspect of preparation for international tournaments, for example, which is why USEF and Ghost Gaming have decided to create the International Esports Exchange. Through the new organization, they want talented players to improve their cross-cultural understanding while developing their core skills.
The first program offered by the International Esports Exchange is an official Tekken 8 event that will take place at 404 Esports in Atlanta, Georgia, where Ghost Gaming is located as well. On May 18th, a competition will be organized to determine which North American player will be sent to the upcoming 2024 Global Esports Camp in South Korea. This camp will take place from June 25th to June 27th in Daejeon City in South Korea and will be hosted by the Korea Esports Association (KeSPA), while being supported by the Korean Ministry of Culture, Sport and Tourism.
"Sending a Tekken player to Korea is an unparalleled opportunity to be immersed in the heartland of competitive gaming, where every frame, every move, is finely honed to perfection”, says Bethany Pyles, Player Development Specialist at the USEF, “It's not just about leveling up skills; it's about absorbing the culture, the dedication, and the relentless pursuit of excellence that defines the fighting game scene. This collaboration between USEF.GG, Ghost Gaming, and KeSPA provides a chance to evolve not just as a player, but as a true contender on the global stage."
2024 Global Esports Camp
Based on Tekken 8, the 2024 Global Esports Camp is being organized to provide participants with not just competition of the highest level, but also with unique esports education and training. This includes coordinated high-level scrim training, talks on physical and mental well-being with experienced professionals, and discussions about the current and future state of international esports. On top of that, 2024 Global Esports Camp participants will also receive coaching and mentoring from two top Tekken professionals: 4-time EVO champion Arslan “Arslan Ash” Siddique and 3-time EVO champion Bae “Knee” Jae-Min.
“Our goal is to provide a networking and exchange platform for USEF.GG players and those from other countries,” says Jorrel Batac, Chief Operation Officer at the USEF, “It has been exciting to work closely with KeSPA to develop this opportunity, and we look forward to the continued exchange between U.S. and Korean esports athletes.”
