25 April 2020

Best ATP and WTA’s players including Rafael Nadal, Andy Murry and Dominic Thiem are set to compete from their home in the Mutua Madrid Open Virtual Pro tournament that will take place from April 27 to 30. The event will be streamed on Facebook Gaming.

The virtual tournament, sponsored by Orange, will feature 16 singles players for both ATP and WTA divided into four groups, which will decide which players qualify for the quarter-finals. The event will kick off on Monday 27 April with broadcasts, which will be similar to the conventional Mutua Madrid Open, beginning at 3 PM CEST. A summary programme with the highlights of the day will round off each day of competition. The Mutua Madrid Open Virtual Pro can be followed in English on the Mutua Madrid Open's page and in Spanish on PlayStation España's Facebook page.

On top of the official tournament, a charity tournament will see eight content creators take on the professional tennis players to raise funds to help those affected by Covid-19. The tournament will include a purse of 150,000 euros in both draws, from which the winners will be able to decide how much they donate to the tennis players currently suffering economically, and €50,000 that will all go towards reducing the social impact of the COVID-19 pandemic.
