Riot Games to release new VALORANT Agent 29 Veto in October

7 October 2025

Riot Games would not be Riot Games and VALORANT would not be VALORANT if they would not keep the announcements and reveals going. The VALORANT Champions 2025 event in Paris is not even a full day behind us, at the moment of writing, and fans and players of one of the biggest hits in the world of international esports already have the next big thing to look forward to. That is because on Wednesday, October 15th, Riot Games will release Agent 29, named Veto. But who is Veto exactly? And why should we be excited about his addition to the game?
For starters, you can watch the official introduction trailer for Veta here, on Riot Games’ official Youtube channel.

Meet Veto

Agent 29’s name was officially revealed during the VALORANT Champions 2025 event in Paris, on the Grand Final Day. The 28th Agent in the game is a new sentinel who hails from Senegal, in the west of Africa, and who possesses an unstoppable DNA mutation that gives him great powers. Veto specializes in destroying the abilities of opponents and holding those opponents in one place, and his own abilities are naturally related to those specialties. Like all other Agents in VALORANT, Veto was given four abilities:

  • Chokehold (C)

Chokehold allows Veto to equip a viscous fragment of his own mutation, which he can throw at opponents as a trap to hold them in place. Opponents are also Deafened and Decayed. An opponent can destroy the Chokehold trap.

  • Crosscut (Q)

With Crosscut, Veto creates a vortex which he can then use to teleport by Reactivating. The player needs to be in range of the vortex and look at it in order to teleport to the location of the vortex.

  • Interceptor (E)

Interceptors are launched at projected locations, where they can then be activated. Once active, it will destroy any utility that would bounce off a player and/or be destroyed naturally be gunfire. Like the Chokehold traps, Interceptors can be destroyed by opponents.

  • Evolution (X)

This ability makes Veto instantly mutate, which results in a combat stim, regeneration and temporary immunity to all forms of debuff.

Veto’s place in VALORANT

As you can see from his abilities, with Veto it’s all about disrupting opponents in order to ruin their strategies, while also boasting enormous sustain. The question is though, what will the new Agent’s real impact be on VALORANT as a game?

To answer this question, we first need to see how he functions inside the game once he is released on October 15th. Nonetheless, based on the information we currently have, Veto looks unlikely to have a huge impact on the VALORANT meta. His utilities simply seem to easily destroyable and we doubt, at the moment at least, whether Veto will be good enough to carry a sole Sentinel role in a composition.
