Xbox Games Showcase 2023: Quick recap

Back in May we wrote an article for our Belgian sister website about the most recent PlayStation Showcase: one hour full of exclusive insights from the newest games and brand-new content for Sony’s hit console. Millions of people from all over the world watched the highly anticipated annual event, but Sony isn’t the only company that organizes such events. Microsoft, whose Xbox is the PlayStation’s traditional archrival, knows that its fans can’t wait for new games and content either. That’s why it organizes its own showcase every year, the Xbox Games Showcase, which took place on Sunday, June 11th, this year. The 2023 edition contained more than an hour worth of trailers, scoops and new content for both the Xbos Series consoles and computer. In this article, we’re listing some of the major moments from the 2023 Xbox Games Showcase.
Starfield
The 2023 Xbox Games Showcase featured a total of 27 game titles and left one of the biggest games to come until last. With Starfield, Bethesda Games Studios is launching its first new universe in more than 25 years and this year’s Xbox showcase provided viewers with unprecedented access to the upcoming game’s gameplay and visuals. Ahead of the planned launch on Wednesday, September 6th, 2023, the developer shared detailed information on game aspects like character customization, world exploration, and ships. Considering Bethesda’s track record, which contains hit titles like Elder Scrolls and Fallout, it’s no wonder fans can’t wait for Starfield.
Fable
The next title on this list is Fable, a revival of the much-loved RPG series and a Microsoft exclusive. The first announcement of the game was already made in 2020, but apart from a rather simple first trailer, we have since then had nothing else to indicate a true revival of the Fable franchise. Until the 2023 Xbox Games Showcase, that is, where Microsoft and developer Playground Games launched a new trailer revealing more details about the upcoming game and its making of. Star Wars Outlaws
When a new Star Wars title is revealed, it almost always belongs amongst the major highlights of any esports or gaming event, and the 2023 Xbox Games Showcase was no different. In the upcoming game, Star Wars Outlaws, you play neither as Jedi nor Sith, but as a young woman living in a world that is dominated by smugglers, thieves and other criminals. Developer Massive Entertainment used the most recent Xbox showcase to reveal the game’s first visuals and gameplay aspects.
Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024
For the millions of Flight Simulator fans around the world, it looks like something special is on the way. Up until now, this hugely popular title was much more of a simulator than an actual game, but that’s about to change. During the 2023 Xbox Games Showcase, developer Asabo Studio is adding a pilot job feature to Microsoft’s Flight Simulator 2024. As a player, you will be able to pick jobs in agriculture aviation, mountain rescue, cargo transport and much more, which represents an incredible evolution of the Flight Simulator franchise.
